RESCUE STORY OF THE MONTH

Ricky

A few days ago, we got a call from a local animal shelter about a hamster with a sad tale that needed help.

The little girl was left in a box with 2 other Syrian hamsters on the side of the road. Syrian hamsters are solitary animals and so they were fighting with each other. One hamster got out of the box and was hit by a car. Another hamster passed away due to its injuries he got during the fight with the other hamsters.. This little one made it with a missing eye and missing fur on her side and belly. Ricky requires vet care but we are convinced that she will surive.

Ricky is a bit shy but does not bite. We're sure that she will come around in time and will start trusting humans again.

We can't stress enough and ask people to please do their research when getting a pet! While dwarf hamsters can live with others, Syrians don't like company and will fight, often to death.

Also please don't abandon your animals, there are a lot of other alternatives! The two other hamsters didn't have to have to suffer and die if only the people would have called us or another shelter/rescue!

Please get in touch with us, if you are interested in giving Ricky a forever home!

STOLEN - RABBIT!

On November 14th 2006 a beloved family rabbit was stolen from their vehicle at the Walmart parking lot in Abbotsford around 5:30pm.

Hoppy is a young neutered male who's black with a white chin, chest, tail and his toes. He's super friendly and loving.

Hoppy travels to and from a elementary school and his home everyday, and on the one day they we not able to make it straight home this tragedy happened. The family is devastated, and I'm sure so are the many children at the school who love this little fellow.

Hoppy was taken in a cardboard carrier that was a Girl Guides carry box, also stolen was a Blue & white striped w/ green zipper top bag. The bag had a almost finished thesis in it, school paper & books, an old lunch ect.

Please contact us info@smallanimalrescue.org with any information you might have.
